New Eco-Classroom at Forest Way School

by Robyn Fletcher | Nov 7, 2019 | Blog, Education

Forest Lodge is a new modular ECO extension to Forest Way School, consisting of two additional classrooms. This has allowed the school to increase their pupil capacity and welcome more children to the successful school.

This brand new facility was funded with a significant contribution from Leicestershire County Council and the rest achieved through fund-raising and support from Patrons of the School. They had many generous donations towards equipment and furniture for the new classrooms that were greatly received – with special thanks to the Thomas Harley Charity, HSBC, Air Products Ltd, Nationwide and all the staff who so bravely threw themselves out of a plane to raise money for the school.

Forest Lodge opened at the beginning of the new Academic year. They held an open evening on the 5th September and provided a guided tour of the completed facilities with an opportunity to meet some of thier fantastic staff and pupils. The evening was a resounding success and enjoyed by all who attended.

We were pleased to join them on the evening as they are so happy with the classroom space that naturally fits alongside the existing school buildings.

Quote from Gail Seaton, Headteacher – “We have the highest aspirations for our young people and the quality of the new modular build classrooms perfectly reflects this. We are proud that we can continue to adapt our facilities effectively to meet the needs of our growing community of students.”

Quote from Ian Wood, School Business Manager - “This project has been a real collaboration from day one with us working closely with TG Escapes during the design process to bring our vision to life. They understood our needs and how important it was for us to have an accessible building that looked like an extension of the main school with lots of natural light and space for our pupils. The project began at Easter and took just over four months to transform the existing space into a fully functioning modular ECO Classroom. The build exceeded our expectations and was completed to an extremely high standard.

Forest Way School is committed to providing the highest quality education to enable young people to achieve their potential, they provide an exciting engaging and ever-evolving curriculum that meets the needs of all of their young people and encourages independence in readiness for life beyond school. They are also a Forest School, their philosophy is to encourage and inspire individuals of any age through positive outdoor experiences.
