Classroom at Lawnside Lower School

A new interactive learning space was in order at Lawnside Lower School in Bedfordshire, and a Learning Escape Eco-classroom was just the ticket.

The building, now named by the school as The Learning Hub, has been welcomed by staff and pupils who love using the new space for group activities.

Why did you decide you needed an outdoor learning space?

We wanted to be able to provide a space for group learning where the children would have enough space to run around and interact in a light and airy environment. We were keen that they would have a space that would help them to interact with the natural environment more, for both learning and play time. But it wasn’t just for the children! We wanted somewhere we could use for meetings when it wasn’t being used for learning.  The varied use and our interest in a sustainable solution made a Learning Escape the perfect choice.

What made The Learning Escape stand out from the other providers?

The project team managed the whole process from start to finish. Running a busy school full of primary school aged children doesn’t leave much time for outside projects. The team at The Learning Escape took everything off our hands. We just told them our requirements and they set everything in motion. It was a genuinely stress free experience.

What are the biggest benefits you’ve noticed for your school?

The children absolutely love learning and playing in the classroom. They get excited about using the new building because it looks different from the older classrooms and presents a sense of variety. For the staff it means more space, which is always a bonus, and a new option for group learning. An acoustic folding wall system was installed as part of the project by the Learning Escape which allows us to use the Hub as one large space or several small rooms – it’s so versatile.

How did you find working with The Learning Escape overall?

We found The Learning Escape to be extremely professional – at every stage. Everything was brought in on time and both the installation team, and the office staff were extremely helpful throughout the process. We’d certainly consider using them again if we needed another classroom.
