Olympic Fever

by Robyn Fletcher | Aug 18, 2016 | Blog, Residential

Team GB have come a long way in the twenty years since the Atlanta 1996 games, at which we limped into 36th place on the medals table with just one gold. The amazing team of sports men and women at Rio 2016 have so far thrilled us all, rewriting their Olympic history and currently sitting in second place with an astonishing 19 gold and silver medals and a juicy haul of 12 bronze.

Thanks to lottery funding, we are no longer just picking up a few medals in the more elite sports of rowing, sailing and equestrian. Instead, we are achieving success in a huge range of far more accessible disciplines such as running, swimming and cycling (to name but a few).

If we want to keep the momentum going, we need today’s generation of young people to get involved in sporting pursuits. The BBC’s Get Inspired website is a great place to start the quest for the sport that suits not only your child’s inclination and natural abilities but which is also affordable and geographically accessible. The one pre-requisite for success in almost any sport is a good level of basic fitness which, in the modern age of device distraction, is probably lower in the average child today when compared with kids of yesteryears.

It can be difficult in a typically hectic family to find the time for everyone to get enough exercise. A number of TG Escape’s customers have made an investment in their entire family’s health and fitness by installing a garden gym. With no expensive gym subscriptions and no need to travel or organise lifts, everyone can simply pop out into the garden for a spot of running, rowing, cycling (or whatever floats their fitness boat) whenever the opportunity arises and the mood suits.

The team at TG Escapes have years of experience creating a professional gym experience, in the privacy and proximity of our customers’ back gardens. We take care to orientate the building and glazing to ensure the seclusion so lacking in a public gym and to minimise the full glare of the sun, whilst still allowing a high level of natural light penetration. We can install highly energy efficient heating and cooling systems to ensure perfect training conditions whatever the weather and, if you only get the chance to work out in the dark, we can even install a flat screen TV with surround sound.

In short, we can create a gym environment that is perfectly tailored to suit the needs of the entire family and inspire even the most hardened couch potatoes. So take a leaf out of this family’s book, who were delighted to let us know that all of them are now exercising more following the installation of their garden gym.
