Is your New Year Resolution to keep fit?

Amongst the top 50 New Year resolutions are a desire to learn to knit, to break a world record and to have cosmetic surgery. But assuming you are not planning on radical facial reconstruction, followed by a prolonged recovery period during which you attempt to knit the world’s longest scarf, chances are that you have a niggling urge to join the vast majority of New Year resolutionists and to exercise more.

And the goose may well be getting fat, and stress levels are mounting as each new day brings us closer to the festive onslaught. Gifts to buy and wrap; cards to write and post; food and drink to be bought and cooked and….visitors to be accommodated, in every sense of the word.

National Tree Week 29th November to 7th December 2014

First launched in 1975, National Tree Week is the UK’s largest annual tree celebration, always timed to coincide with the beginning of the winter tree planting season. It represents a great opportunity for communities to do something positive for their local tree population…so why not make a decision to plant a tree this year?

Its Raining Again

Having just returned from an exceptionally soggy walking expedition with the dog (even he had had enough by the end of it!) I thought I’d take a quick look at the long range weather forecasts for this winter and gingerly crossed my fingers in the hope that we are not in for a repeat of last year’s record levels of rainfall.
