Case Study

Artists Garden Studio in London

Building type: Studios
Project price: Ā£27,000
Completion date: 2012

Susan Wadsworth transformed her studio from dull and dingy to bright and inspiring with a little help from a Garden Escape.

WhyĀ didĀ youĀ wantĀ toĀ developĀ aĀ GardenĀ Escape?

Before I decided to develop my outdoor space, I was previously working out of a garden shed. I had to share my ‘studio’ with spades, buckets and a whole host of assorted gardening paraphernalia. My shed was dark and tiny and only allowed me to work on one project at a time, something that really didn’t suit my creative work.

WhatĀ wereĀ theĀ keyĀ elementsĀ thatĀ madeĀ TheĀ GardenĀ EscapeĀ standĀ outĀ fromĀ otherĀ providers?

The Garden Escape really understand what a great studio needs. They were able to design my new space in a way that would benefit my work and my creative inspiration. Their natural materials blend well with my garden and it’s reassuring to know that the build has had a much reduced effect on the environment.

WhatĀ areĀ theĀ biggestĀ benefitsĀ you’veĀ noticedĀ fromĀ yourĀ GardenĀ Escape?

My new Garden Escape has had an amazing impact on my work. The studio is filled with light and my creative process has really benefited because of the new space I have to work in. I am already moving forwards with my studio and am looking forwards to contributing to the Annual Dulwich Arts Festival in May, something I could never have entered with my old shed.
