Learning Escape Specifications
Foundations
Our Learning Escape mobile classrooms rest on either a helical steel screw pile system or a series of unique, re-enforced concrete pads which supports the ring beam. This ensures that the building has no direct contact with the ground, creating a well ventilated space underneath.
Structure
The Learning Escapes use the latest structural integrated panel system (sips). These prefabricated panels fuse an insulated core between an outer skin of oriented strand board (osb), the internal vapour barrier and plasterboard. This method ensures industry leading technology creates super-strong construction panels which are used as the frame work of the floors, wall and roof.
Roof
The roof consists of a single- ply Evalon semi-permeable membrane (fleece backed) which is welded to 6mm ply decking laid across the roof panels. This provides a water tight yet breathable roof membrane. The panels are pre insulated with 120mm Isover mineral wool lambda. Overall U-Value of construction: 0.17W/m2K. Vapour barrier and 12.5mm plasterboard and skim finish. Acoustic ceiling tiles can be specified within the classroom area.
Floor
Floor panels are pre-insulated with 150mm Isover mineral wool, lambda 0.15W/Mk. Panels under drawn with 9mm OSBS sheathing. Overall U-Value of construction: 0.15W/m2K. Contract carpet tiles or sheet vinyl flooring with T & G chipboard on 500 gauge polythene vapour barrier applied to pre fabricated floor panels.
Doors and Windows
Windows and doors are constructed from sustainable Douglas Fir timber, oiled OSMO UV with double glazing sealed window units by our specialist manufacturer. The external doors are fitted with a key lock externally with thumb turn internally to allow for emergency exit.
The glazing consists of 24mm units constructed of 2x4mm toughened panels. Thermal performance of the frames will achieve a max U Value of 2.0W/m2K. Our glazing units are argon filled and achieve 1.4W/m2K. Large glazed areas with the requirement of safety breakage will have toughened glass to BS6206. Manifestation will be applied to those areas required to prevent against accidental injury caused by collision.
Door mounted self closers will be fitted to feature hold backs.
External works
The ramp access, where required will have a maximum gradient of 1:15 with lengths of les than 5m and a minimum overall width of 1200mm.
A proprietary non-slip decking will be used for outside play areas.
Conservation of fuel and power
Suspended ground floor 0.25WM2K. External walls 0.25WM2K. Flat roof with insulated rafter line 0.25WM2K. Hardwood windows 2 WM2K fitted with double glazed Low-E glass (En = 0.15) with min 16mm cavity.
Energy efficient lighting to be provided.
Where required hot water can be provided by either Zip Inline instantaneous water heaters or solar water heating system.
Heating can be specified with a choice of electric, geothermal or air source heat pump / air conditioning.
Energy conservation is an imporatant part of our Environmental Mission
