We found out how the new Outdoor Classroom at Arnold Seeley School is inspiring their young pupils. 

1.        Why did you want to develop an outdoor learning space?

We have a wholehearted belief that children thrive best when given plenty of opportunity to be outside in the fresh air, safely and comfortably. The outdoor space available to our reception class was inadequate and lacked shelter from the elements. We wanted our Year R pupils to be able to play and learn outside every day, whatever the weather, in a totally secure environment.

2.        What made The Learning Escape stand out from other providers?

From my very first point of contact with the Learning Escape, I was really impressed with their professional approach and the way in which they listened to our requirements. I was also excited by the range of surfaces that they offered and loved the sedum roof and sun pipes which have made our outdoor classroom a truly inspiring space in which our youngest children can learn whilst effortlessly connecting with nature.

3.        What are the biggest benefits you’ve noticed for the pupils and your school?

Our reception class are now learning outside on a daily basis, come rain or shine. They are able to learn through exploration in a space that is completely secure, yet invigorating and exciting. It’s great for the children and the staff are loving the fact that they can get on with the business of teaching, knowing that everyone is safe and comfortable.

4.        How did you find working with The Learning Escape overall?

From the project manager, who handled every aspect of the build from design to completion, to the team of builders, the professional attitude has been exceptional. I have no hesitation in awarding the team, and our fabulous new learning space.
