Exploring the Eco Schools Show
The sun has come out for us at the Eco Schools Show in Sheffield today. We're here at stand 19 promoting our eco classrooms and this morning we gave a workshop on Outdoor Learning and Environmental Citizenship.
Throughout the day we've been exploring the rest of the stands and finding out what's new and upcoming for eco-schools and making children more environmentally aware.
On our own stand, the living Sedum roof is attracting a lot of attention. They're a fantastic way to teach children about green issues with a real life example. We're helping people escape with stickers too! Make sure you come and have a chat to find out more information about the Outdoor Learning and Environmental Citizenship workshop we ran earlier.
Elsewhere in the arena, Waste Buster are showing us how we can turn frocks into footballs and their fabric monkey is a brilliant landmark amongst the stalls. Keep an eye out for the Waste Watch recycler robot too - he doesn't take kindly to non-recyclers!
Walking to school is a hot topic at the event with both SusTrans and Living Streets getting staff and pupils to think about how they get to school every day.
Don't miss the mix of performances on the stage, schools have been showcasing their singing and dancing skills all day. We particularly liked the 'eco' cover versions of the chart hits.
We're really pleased to see such a focus being placed on children learning the importance of sustainability and being aware of their environment. There are some fantastic organisations here with some brilliant causes. It's been the perfect place for us to talk about outdoor learning and environmental citizenship.
