The Progress of Spring

by TG Escapes | Mar 5, 2014 | Blog, Residential

THE groundflame of the crocus breaks the mould,Ā
Fair Spring slides hither o'er the Southern sea,Ā
Wavers on her thin stem the snowdrop coldĀ
That trembles not to kisses of the bee:Ā

Come Spring, for now from all the dripping eavesĀ
The spear of ice has wept itself away,Ā
And hour by hour unfolding woodbine leavesĀ
O'er his uncertain shadow droops the day.Ā
She comes! The loosen'd rivulets run;Ā
The frost-bead melts upon her golden hair;Ā
Her mantle, slowly greening in the Sun,Ā
Now wraps her close, now arching leaves her bare
To breaths of balmier air.

Beautiful, isnā€™tĀ  it? At the risk of being a little premature in my excitement, the first signs of Spring are bursting forth. Blossom, that beautiful portent for the year ahead, is colouring the landscape as the days draw out. Birdsong, that quintessential mark to the end of winter, fills the morning air with its heady, joyous sound. I know itā€™s still pretty chilly and thereā€™s even a chance of snow. We should heed the proverbial warning to neā€™re cast our clout till May be outā€¦.but wouldnā€™t it be wonderful if you could sit in a beautiful warm cocoon, a Garden Escape, and watch your garden come to life? And think to yourself it's a wonderful world.
